 The
NR6 calculates nasal airway resistance by measuring nasal flow and the
pressure producing that flow.
NR6
can
be used for active anterior or posterior rhinomanometry, with either the
Broms or standard technique as approved by the International
Standardisation Committee.
In addition
it
will calculate and display either the Rohrer coefficients or
the Broms angle relating to the resultant curves.
Two versions of the instruments are available, the NR6 Compact and the
NR6 Executive -the difference between them being software facilities as
described below
Hardware/Software
requirements
The
NR6 will work with any PC running Windows
2000,
NT, XP or Vista,
which
has room for a PCI bus card (full
height), or a USB connection.
Any
printer with a Windows driver should be suitable.
We can
supply full systems including a medical grade PC & printer or the
components needed to allow you to connect the NR6 to your own PC and
printer.
Both
NR6 models provide:-
a) An
individual patient database, which holds patient details and stores test
result files, in chronological order, for ease of display printout and
comparison.
b)
Files can be saved to disk and recalled for comparison, examination or
printout.
c) Tests can be performed using one of a number
of
techniques and reassessed by changing the reference or
threshold points.
d) Test results can be compared with ones
previously stored. This comparison is presented in the form of a graphical
display with percentage change figures produced, and is available for
printout.
e)
A diagnostic facility, to help determine if nasal valve collapse has
occurred, has been added to the standard system. This provides information
on the flow at various points on the curve and calculates ratios and
percentage increases at these points.

NR6 Executive model additionally provides:-

A batch test facility to allow data runs to be repeated and mean, standard
deviation and coefficient of variance calculation for results within the
batch to be displayed and printed. This “best clinical
practice" facility helps ensure top grade measurement accuracy.
Data exportation facilities are built in to the executive model which
allows "raw" data
in a number of formats to be
provided
for statistical analysis and other purposes.

Additional
Options
A USB linked footswitch, to initiate sampling can
be ordered separately. A compatible acoustic rhinometer model A1 can be
linked to the same interface card as NR6 and can therefore share the same PC and printer.
Software to run both instruments as a combined unit (Naris) and a
sound tube capable of making both measurements
almost simultaneously,
is also available.
A calibration unit FP2 can be provided for use with the
NR6.
